Ken Blanchard (1939) is een bekende Amerikaanse onderzoeker, consultant en schrijver van diverse managementboeken, waaronder 30 bestsellers. Eén van de bekendste theorieën waaraan Ken Blanchard heeft bijgedragen is het Situationeel Leiderschap model waarin de effectiviteit van leiderschap verbonden is aan situaties.

Biografie Ken Blanchard

Ken Blanchard behaalde in 1961 zijn Bachelorgraad (BA) in politicologie en filosofie aan de Cornell-universiteit (Verenigde Staten).

In 1963 behaalde Ken Blanchard zijn Mastergraad (MA) op het gebied van sociologie aan de Universiteit van Colgate (Verenigde Staten). Uiteindelijk promoveerde Ken Blanchard in 1963 en behaalde zijn Doctorsgraad (Ph.D.) in het vakgebied onderwijsadministratie en leiderschap aan de Cornell-universiteit. Ken Blanchard is nog steeds aan deze Universiteit verbonden in de vorm van bezoekende Emeritus professor.

Na een tijd te hebben gewerkt binnen de academische wereld, besloot Ken Blanchard samen met zijn vrouw in 1979 een management consultancy bureau te beginnen. Gecombineerd met zijn adviesdiensten deed hij onderzoek naar onder andere leiderschap, klantloyaliteit, coaching medewerkersbetrokkenheid, project management, organisatie ontwikkeling en meer. Dit leidde naast succesvolle advies- en trainingsopdrachten, ook tot een aantal bestsellers. Zo zijn er bijvoorbeeld van het boek The one minute manager (1982) meer dan 10 miljoen exemplaren verkocht.

Andere bestsellers van Blanchard en collega’s zijn Raving Fans (1993), Gung Ho! (1998) en Big Bucks! (2000). Naast bestsellers heeft Ken Blanchard ook verschillende nominaties en prijzen gewonnen op het gebied van management, leiderschap en spreken in het openbaar.

Blanchard is nog steeds actief in zijn organisatie als Chief Spiritual Officer. De organisatie opereert wereldwijd onder de naam van Ken Blanchard Companies en levert haar diensten op het gebied van training en advies aan grote multinationale ondernemingen en organisaties.
