Stephen Covey (1933 – 2012) was medeoprichter van de Franklin Covey Company en heeft ruim 30 jaar trainingen bij verschillende grote internationale organisaties verzorgd. Stephen Covey is vooral wereldwijd bekend geworden met zijn baanbrekende theorie en model: 7 eigenschappen van effectief leiderschap.

Stephen Covey biografie

Stephen Covey was samen met zijn vrouw Sandra en familie woonachtig in Provo (Utah), waar tevens de Brigham Young Universiteit is gevestigd.

Covey gaf daar les als hoogleraar voordat hij succesvol werd met zijn boek The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (1989). Dit boek vooral gericht op persoonlijk leiderschap en persoonlijke ontwikkeling waarin hij aangaf dat iedereen kon groeien, op basis van een aantal eigenschappen die men zelf kon ontwikkelen.

Covey woonde met zijn vrouw en hun gezin in Provo (Utah), de stad waar de Brigham Young University is gevestigd. Hij was vader van negen kinderen en grootvader van 50 kleinkinderen. In 2003 ontving Stephen Covey de vaderschapsprijs van het ‘National Fatherhood Initiative’.

Stephen Covey was de oprichter van de Covey Leadership Center, dat na de overname van Franklinquest de naam ‘FranklinCovey’ kreeg. De organisatie ‘Covey Leadership Center’ is gespecialiseerd in het geven van trainingen en het verkopen van producten die de productiviteit verbeteren.
