Bruce Tuckman - Toolshero

Bruce Tuckman (1938) is wetenschapper, adviseur en emeritus hoogleraar Onderwijspsychologie aan de Ohio State University. Hij heeft de opleiding Strategieën voor Schoolsucces ontwikkeld voor de Ohio State University. Bruce Tuckman is vooral bekend om zijn vijf fasen van groepsontwikkeling; het Tuckman model.

Bruce Tuckman biografie

In 1960 behaalde Bruce Tuckman zijn bachelordiploma psychologie aan het Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1962 behaalde hij zijn masterdiploma (MA) aan de Princeton Universiteit en in 1963 is hij aan deze universiteit gepromoveerd.

Van 1965 tot 1978 bekleedde hij diverse functies bij de Rutgers University waarna hij de overstap maakte naar de City University of New York.

Tussen 1978 en 1983 was Bruce decaan en hoogleraar aan de School of Education, Baruch College van de City University of New York.

Na 1983 aanvaardde hij de functie van hoogleraar Onderwijs aan de Florida State University. In 1998 ging Bruce Tuckman een nieuwe uitdaging aan als directeur-oprichter en hoogleraar Onderwijs bij het Walter E. Dennis Learning Center aan de Ohio State University.

Het onderzoek van Tuckman richt zich vooral op motivatie en groepsdynamica. Hij is vooral ook bekend geworden met zijn Tuckman model dat gaat over de vijf fasen van groepsontwikkeling. Zijn werk is hoofdzakelijk gericht op het onderzoeken van verbanden tussen motiverende factoren en schoolprestaties en interventies die het zelfregulerende gedrag van studenten stimuleren (zoals het stellen van doelen, planning en stimulansen).

Tuckman heeft diverse boeken en artikelen geschreven en is een wereldberoemd en gerespecteerd wetenschapper.
