Fons Trompenaars is een Nederlandse adviseur, management trainer en motivatiespreker. Fons Trompenaars is tevens auteur van vele boeken, waaronder Riding the waves of culture (1998), op het gebied van cultuur en ondernemingen en bekend van het cultuur model, die hij samen Charles Hampden-Turner heeft ontwikkeld.

Biografie Fons Trompenaars

Fons studeerde economie aan de Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam. Hij promoveerde later aan de Wharton School van de Universiteit van Pennsylvania op een proefschrift over verschillen in opvattingen over organisatiestructuur in verschillende culturen.

Trompenaars is zijn loopbaan begonnen toen hij in 1981 in dienst trad bij Shell Rotterdam en ging werken bij de afdeling personeelszaken. Vanaf 1985 werkte hij op het gebied van functiewaardering en managementontwikkeling bij Shell Research Laboratories in Amsterdam. In 1989 richtte hij het Centre for International Business Studies op, een advies- en trainingsorganisatie op het gebied van internationaal management.

Sinds 1998 werkt de organisatie onder de naam Trompenaars Hampden-Turner. Fons Trompenaars heeft als adviseur gewerkt voor o.a. Shell, BP, ICI, Philips, Heineken, TRW, Mars, Motorola, General Motors, Nike, Cable and Wireless, CSM en Merrill Lynch.

Trompenaars en de ontwikkeling van het cultuur model

Hij werd beroemd met een cultuur model dat zeven dimensies onderscheidt. Dit cultuur model heeft hij in samenwerking met Charles Hampden-Turner ontwikkeld.
